Digital Humanities in my opinion, is the interdisciplinary study of humanities through technology including but not limited to virtual reconstruction, GIS Mapping, digital archives, and digital processing which allows for collaboration from all humanities professions including scholars, librarians, curators, and archivists. Digital Humanities is also the integration of information through investigation, analysis, synthesis, and presentation in order to grant public access to historical topics in a digital format.
I define Digital Humanities this way because it is such a complex discipline that encompasses many areas of study and skills in order to present and preserve historical information. DH is interdisciplinary because there is a multitude of disciplines involved from the humanities to the computer scientists. Digital Humanities also involves new and old technology in order to carry out its basic functions of investigating, analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting information to the public. Technologies such as virtual reconstructions and digital archives allows DH to reach the average person in the public who otherwise may not have access to such information.
